We've been Elmo-fied!

Yes, it’s true…your eyes are not deceiving you. Those are TWO Elmo dolls (singing Elmo dolls, I might add) that now live in the Farrell home. I didn’t think this day would come so soon…or maybe I was hoping ever-- but it’s here nonetheless. Emma Kate has fallen madly in love with Elmo and I seriously have no idea how. We have never seen Sesame Street, we don’t talk about Elmo, and we don’t have any Elmo toys. But the girl has a crush. When we went to Tampa, my friend Anna happened to have “Tickle Me Elmo” and I think the obsession may have started there. Since then, her love affair has only grown and today I finally caved at Target. Of course, we can’t just get ONE singing Elmo, we must get two. Should be a fun weekend- anyone want to come play?

Help Please!

So you know I love me some Emma Kate and Jackson but y’all….help a momma out- how in the heck do you get dinner started (or completed for that matter!)? I have recently hit this crazy stage where the twins reach about 5 pm (that would be an hour and a half before our regular dinner time, btw!) and they are ready for dinner unless they have my undivided attention- wha, wha??!

Perhaps I was living in a blissful world 2 or 3 months ago but generally, EK and J played pretty well up until dinner time (perhaps a small melt down but certainly not until closer to our normal 6:30 dinner time). It has seemed to get progressively worse and now the tears/whining start at least an hour before…again, unless they have my undivided attention. This would be NO problem if we lived in the world of nannies, Au Pairs, and/or a full time chef. Wow…how awesome would that be? I picture putting my feet up, a glass of wine, and reading a good book. Ok, back to reality…

So, that is where you come in…please help me! How do you do it? How do you start dinner without a toddler (or two) whining at your feet? I have literally tried everything I know- from quiet activities like puzzles and books, to a movie (lasts 30 seconds before they come running!), to a small “appetizer.” I will take ANY and ALL ideas…this momma is desperate J

Hard to resist this face though, huh?

Come On Spring...

Add ImageSo it's pouring rain here right now and I just looked at the weather forecast for the week ahead...40 degree days (maybe hitting 50). Can I just say I am SOOO ready for spring!! Found this picture from the darling book, Children's Letters to God, and I couldn't have said it better myself :)

My little reader

Guess Who???

Yup, sweet Emma Kate and her favorite book :)

One thing I love about having twins is how the Lord blessed me with two amazing babes with two totally different personalities.

Emma Kate is my spunky spirit, totally silly, all smiles but absolutely LOVES books and takes them very seriously. She would prefer a book over a movie any day and she will carry a book with her all day and fall asleep with one in her arms.

EK is not super verbal yet but she still has LOTS to say- she tells me in her own babbling way all about the story she is reading and I love to hear her rendition :)

Pointing out each detail and "telling" me all about it... so sweet!
