Swimsuit Season

So I don't think it matters who you are- whether you are short, tall, thin, curvy, or somewhere in between...none of us really love bathing suit shopping. I know it wasn't thrilling for me this season, especially after giving birth to twins. My skin just isn't quite the same after being stretched like that. All worth it though :)

I will say however, I have had so much fun shopping for swimsuits for the twins. They have some really cute suits out there and since I plan to spend a lot of our summer at the pool, I knew we needed a few good options. I thought I would post two adorable ones I found this past week while out looking. I must say I was very impressed as I thought to find something cute I would have to pay a little more and perhaps look at Nordies or a baby boutique but I found these at two old faithfuls- Gap and Old Navy- hooray for adorable and budget friendly!

Anyone who has met my daughter knows that this swimsuit is SO Emma Kate. The ruffles, the pink, the bikini...she is going to look precious in this suit from Old Navy! (ps- the bottoms are turned around so that is the rear but I just loved all the ruffles and had to show them off!)

Lately

I've been a little behind on well...everything! We had a cold run through the family over the past few weeks and it has seemed like a super busy start to the spring season. When is it not a busy time though, right?

Jackson and Emma Kate turned 6 months last week and I can't believe how big they have gotten. They just get cuter and cuter by the day and their personalities have definitely started to emerge.

We officially started solids and I have decided (with the help and guidance of my sweet friend/twin mom mentor Tracy) to make my own baby food. It's been a bit of an adventure learning how to cook, puree and freeze all this food but I am enjoying the process.

Jackson and Emma Kate are "on the move." Not so much crawling but just scooting around and rolling over and over. Definitely having to keep my eye on them at ALL times now. Both babies are extremely talkative and Emma Kate has taken an extreme interest in our dog Savannah. She loves to talk to the dog, pet the dog, lick the dog...not sure how Savannah feels about it but I think Emma Kate has found a new best friend :)

So we got another Jumperoo and so thankful we did! Here we are jumping after a messy dinner (which is why EK and J aren't wearing any clothes...)

Jumperoo!

Just a quick post but I had to upload this adorable video of Emma Kate in our new favorite toy- the jumperoo!! The twins could seriously sit and jump for hours and be totally entertained- great for me while I'm fixing dinner or folding laundry. Sadly, we have to take turns (we're learning early!) and of course whoever is in the exersaucer or playing in the floor gym looks longingly to the jumperoo...just hoping it will be their turn.
Looks like we will be heading out this weekend to get jumperoo number two. Hope everyone has a great weekend...we will spend most of ours jumping :)

Mommy Muscles

The weather was so pretty earlier this week so I decided to take the babies out for a little stroll. While I wanted to go out, I didn't want the hassle of getting everyone in their car seats and lugging around the massive double stroller. So after a few practice attempts, I mastered carrying both babies at once...

It was quite a site and needless to say, I got lots of stares from passing cars BUT we had a great walk and everyone was happy. Not sure how long I will be able to do this as my babies are getting heavy but it works for now. And doesn't hurt that I am strengthening my mommy muscles- what a great workout!

What an exciting weekend we had! Both Emma Kate and Jackson learned to roll and now that they have started, they don't want to stop! We have yet to get it on video but I am sure that will be coming soon :)

We also had our first meal of rice cereal. It was a bit messy and most of of it ended up on the table, floor and in our dog Savannah's hair but you have to start somewhere, right? I think Emma Kate enjoyed licking/chewing on the spoon more than she enjoyed the food. She has a new obsession with licking everything...books, tables, toys, Savannah...not sure what that is all about but it sure is cute.

Kind of funny that my excitement for the weekend was my babies rolling and eating mush. Guess that's the life of a mom! Here is a video and a few pics to document our big day:

Going Beyond God Bless Johnny

Recently, a friend who is a new mom herself suggested a book on praying scriptures over your children. I loved this idea because although I have been diligently trying to pray for my babies, my prayers are often "God Bless Johnny" prayers. You know, just quick ones thrown up when I remember or have a free moment. There isn't much direction to the prayers-- just asking the Lord to bless my babies, keep them safe, etc. I was so excited to find out about this book to provide me with a little guidance as I pray. And honestly, could there be anything better than actually praying God's word over my babies? I am sure many of you moms out there have already found this resource but just in case, it is called, "Praying the Scriptures for your Children" by Jodie Berndt. I highly recommend it!

The Joys of Owning a Home

So last night around 1:00 am, I awoke to a loud dripping noise (I know, the fact that a drip woke me up is surprising but since becoming a mom, I am a very light sleeper!). I tried to wake up Jono but he was fast asleep so I went to investigate. I was hopeful that the drip was outside...perhaps even an icicle melting. But no, I quickly found that the window in our master bedroom was leaking. And not just a little leak- more like water pouring in from outside. GREAT!! I yelled for Jono and with a little teamwork, we were able to direct the water into a trashcan. We woke up this morning to a trashcan full of water and some very damp towels. Oh the joys of owning a home...long gone are the days of calling the landlord to get something fixed!

I am so over all of this snow- is it spring yet?
